Sky:
These are naturally meditative views. We could not choose only three images and found that was probably just appropriate.

Signage:
Vandalism and functionalism.
Neonism and modernism.
Victorianism and traditionalism.

Perspective:
?The horizon line is always at eye level. Picture yourself at the seashore and looking out at the ocean, you notice that the water meets the sky at your eye level. This never changes. You may be in an airplane 1000 feet up and the level that the ocean meets the sky is still at your eye level. Or you may be lying down on the beach and the ocean level drops with you.?

Reflection:
The buildings are blocking the view in the city but the reflection gives us a hint. While the location of Gunwharf is ideal for a sunset view, the actual buildings and material has not been taken full advantage of.

Lifestyle:
At a time when most people rushing home from work, is it possible to reflect over something as routine as the sunset? To take a deep breath and think of the small part we play in the universe. Even if the lady is walking on the beach, she seems to not notice her surroundings.

Texture:
Contrasting images, from organic nature to manmade construction.

Light:
The seafront reminisces of tradition and seafront resort while Gunwharf is more modern. The city is still buzzing with commercialism and being practical.

Mood:  happy
Now Playing: ITV This Morning - woman can turn anyone into a psycic
Topic: ulrika
Lifestyle:
- Blurry, she is in a bubble. Although the sunset is beautiful she takes no time to appreciate
- Rushing, on the move, going home from work
- Obviously tourists, here for the shopping, no rushing. Why are they not working?

Light:
- Normal streetlight in Portsmouth. Not so nice, more need.
- Design, attract people, modern and commercial.
- Seafront, feel the concept of spending time in the old days, beautiful. Appreciate the seafront.

Perspective:
- Different buildings
- Gunwharf modern, work on the way, future. People still working
buildings blocking the horizon, more people. Friday night shopping, rushing
- Seafront very traditional, can?t see the end, horizon. No sunset. Very quiet.

Reflection:
- Town, reflection buildings, place looks crowed and busy. Is this the only way to see the sunset?
- Modern, still reflection of the sun, not blocking. Location is based on sunset but the actual buildings and material has not taken full advantage.
- Seafront, clear view of the sunset.

Signage:
- Vandalism
- Light
- Traditional type, keep the 1901-feeling

Sky:
We could not choose. Words are not needed.

Texture:
- Nature. Feather, contrast soft and hard.
- Element of nature, but constructed to be modern. Wood and metal ? concept of ship
- Totally constructed. Do people read it?

MA-DDM: Time Sync.

The brief was to devise an approach and create an outcome to capture the experience of dispersed locations at a chosen time.

Our team focused on the sunset as a metaphor for time. We wondered if people in Portsmouth realise how lucky they are - being on the Southcoast and having the luxury of an exceptional sunset almost every night. When we asked around if they enjoyed it, most would say it is ?always cloudy? or ?too cold?.

We decided to make a website for people who live in Portsmouth and take the sunset for granted. We started out by capturing the lifestyle at three different locations around Portsmouth - the sea front, Commercial Road and Gunwharf, at sunset on a Friday night - the end of the week and the beginning of the weekend, supposedly an ideal time for winding down, reflection and re-energising.

Based on these images, we selected seven categories: Sky, Signage, Perspective, Reflection, Lifestyle, Texture, Light. We then choose one image from each location. The images look at the differences between the locations but also represent people rushing about their everyday life. Is it not a worldwide fact that we tend to take things for granted when they happen regulary, no matter how beautiful they are?
